Fort Scott Fire Department's Mission Statement

"The mission of the Fort Scott Fire Department is to preserve life, property, and environment."

The Fort Scott Fire Department consists of thirteen career fire personnel and a force of six reserve firefighters.  We provide fire protection to the City of Fort Scott with extrication and rescue services extending throughout Bourbon County.  Our services are provided to approximately 9,000 residents within the Fort Scott area.  The total population of Bourbon County consists of approximately 15,000 residents.

We provide many different types of services to our city.  Some of our duties include fire suppression, rescue and extrication, first response for medical emergencies, fire code enforcement, public education, confined space rescue, water rescue, underwater dive team, and carbon monoxide detection.
